Privacy Policy & Terms of Service
Learn Biology (package: com.bloomcodestudio.learnbiology) Publisher / Developer: Bloom Code Studio Last updated: 3 August 2026 Effective date: 3 August 2026
This single document contains the Privacy Policy (Part A) and the Terms of Service / Terms of Use (Part B) for the Learn Biology mobile application (the “App”). It is written to meet current Google Play User Data / Data safety requirements (including the July 2026 clarification on third-party AI integrations) and Apple App Store Review Guidelines (Guideline 5.1.1 and related privacy rules as of 2026).
Part A — Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
Bloom Code Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) develops and operates the Learn Biology App. Contact for privacy inquiries: muhammadsaadbloom@gmail.com We do not maintain a physical mailing address in this policy; you may contact us via the email above or through the in-app support / feedback channel.
2. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and your rights. It applies to all users of the App on Android and iOS.
The App is an educational biology learning tool (lessons, quizzes, flashcards, spaced-repetition, mistake ledger, smart notebook, AI tutor explanations, exam-readiness analytics, streaks, notifications, optional premium subscription, and ads for free users). It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide or generate while using the App
- Learning progress & activity data (stored primarily on-device via Hive): Quiz answers (correct/incorrect), flashcard review logs (SM-2 data: ease factor, stability, repetition count, next review date), mistake records (“Black Book”), notebook text selections, completed lessons, streak data (XP, freezes, offline queue), performance analytics / exam-readiness events, bookmarks.
- AI interaction content (when you use Socratic AI Tutor, AI quiz generation, or smart search): The text of the question, your selected answer (if wrong), topic context, and any follow-up prompts you type. This content is sent to our backend / WordPress proxy and then to Google’s Gemini API (gemini-2.0-flash) solely to generate the explanation, analogy, quiz, or search refinement.
- Onboarding status and preferences (e.g., has_seen_onboarding, notification preferences).
- Optional contact if you email us for support or data requests.
We do not require account creation or login for core functionality. No name, email, phone number, or other identity is collected by default.
3.2 Automatically collected / device & usage data
- Device identifiers and advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID / IDFA where permitted and consented).
- Approximate location (derived from IP or locale for content/currency only; no precise GPS).
- App activity, crash logs, performance diagnostics.
- Purchase / subscription status and history (via RevenueCat and the platform billing systems).
- Notification tokens (for local / scheduled nudges and trivia).
- Connectivity status (to manage offline queues and cache).
3.3 Information from third-party services
- RevenueCat — purchase history, entitlement status (premium), restore purchases.
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — advertising identifiers, interaction data for ad serving and measurement (free users only).
- Google Gemini (via our WordPress proxy / WhiteLabel AI service) — the limited content described in 3.1 above.
- Platform stores (Google Play / Apple App Store) — transaction receipts and basic account identifiers necessary for billing.
We do not collect sensitive categories such as precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, health data, or financial account numbers beyond the purchase history processed by the stores and RevenueCat.
4. How We Use the Information
We use the data only for the following purposes:
- Provide and improve the core educational features (quizzes, spaced repetition, mistake ledger, notebook, streaks, exam-readiness dial, visual playgrounds).
- Generate AI explanations, adaptive quizzes, and smart-search suggestions (limited-use; content is not used to train our own models).
- Deliver local notifications and trivia nudges.
- Manage free-tier limits (Socratic tutor daily quota, YouTube unlocks, offline downloads) and premium entitlements.
- Show advertisements to free users (and respect premium status by suppressing ads).
- Process and restore in-app purchases / subscriptions.
- Detect and prevent fraud (including streak anti-clock-fraud offline queue validation on our server).
- Diagnose crashes and improve performance.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use AI-submitted content for advertising or cross-app profiling beyond what is necessary for the features you request.
5. Legal Bases (where applicable – GDPR / UK GDPR / similar)
- Performance of the contract / provision of the service.
- Legitimate interests (improving the App, security, fraud prevention, analytics).
- Consent (where required for advertising identifiers, tracking, or optional AI features).
- Legal obligation.
6. Sharing of Information
We share data only as follows:
- Service providers acting on our instructions: – RevenueCat (purchase & entitlement management) – Google (AdMob for ads; Gemini for AI explanations) – Our WordPress / backend hosting and the bloom-ai-bridge.php proxy – Platform stores (Google Play Billing / Apple In-App Purchase)
- Legal / safety: when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice where required).
We require service providers to protect the data and use it only for the purposes we specify. Third-party AI (Gemini) receives only the minimal content needed for the requested explanation and is subject to Google’s terms and our limited-use instructions.
7. Data Retention
- On-device Hive data (progress, mistakes, notebook, streaks, flashcards, analytics events) remains on your device until you clear app data, uninstall, or request deletion.
- Offline streak queue and certain secure keys are stored in the encrypted bloom_secure box.
- AI request content is processed transiently and is not retained by us longer than necessary to return the response (server-side logs, if any, are kept only for short operational periods and security).
- Purchase / entitlement records are retained as required by the stores, RevenueCat, and applicable tax/financial laws.
- Notification preference data is kept while the App is installed or until you change preferences.
You can request deletion of any server-side data we hold (see Section 9).
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures: encrypted Hive secure boxes (AES), HTTPS/TLS in transit, limited access, and regular review of third-party SDKs. No method of transmission or storage is 100 % secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal data we hold.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent (e.g., advertising tracking, notifications).
- Data portability (where applicable).
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
How to exercise rights / request deletion: Email muhammadsaadbloom@gmail.com with the subject “Data Request – Learn Biology” and sufficient information to identify the relevant data (device identifiers or purchase receipts if possible). We will respond within the time required by applicable law (usually 30 days).
Additional controls:
- Uninstall the App or clear app storage to remove on-device data.
- Disable notifications in device settings.
- Opt out of personalized ads via device settings (Android Advertising ID / Apple App Tracking Transparency).
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play / App Store account settings.
- Premium users receive ad-free experience and higher AI quotas.
We do not require an account, so there is no “account deletion” button; the above process covers any server-side data.
10. Children’s Privacy
The App is intended for a general audience, including students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country) without verifiable parental consent. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it promptly. The App is not directed at children under 13 as a primary audience under COPPA / similar rules; parents should supervise use.
11. International Transfers
Data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers (Google, RevenueCat, hosting) operate. We use appropriate safeguards (standard contractual clauses or equivalent) where required.
12. Third-Party Links & Services
The App may contain links to YouTube videos or external content. Those services have their own privacy policies; we are not responsible for them.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change and, where required, we will provide notice in the App or via store listing. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
14. Contact
